The Best Robot Vacuum For Pet Hair on Hardwood Floors

A high-quality robot vacuum can make a big difference in keeping allergens such as dust and pet hair under control. Different models are not identical.

Whether you're looking for pet-friendly features in your vacuum or a robot to supplement your other cleaner, there are plenty of options.

1. Eufy RoboVac G30 Edge

The G30 Edge is the newest model in Eufy's budget line of robot vacuum cleaners. The G30 Edge is a shiny black vacuum cleaner, with rose gold and blue accents. It looks like a smartphone. This model is easier-to-use than previous models and has features like BoostIQ which automatically increases suction to improve the cleaning of all surfaces. Smart navigation can be used to avoid the repetition of the same area which is a common problem when using bounce-navigation.

It does a very good job of removing pet hair and crumbs from hard floors, but it is in comparison to the best robot vacuum for pet hair on hardwood floors models in cleaning up dust on carpet. In our tests, the G30 Edge missed 74% of the dust on hard floors, and 26 percent on carpets, which is disappointing.

The G30 Edge is unique in its ability to map out your home using a digital map. This allows it to keep track of which rooms it has already cleaned, and to avoid returning to these rooms. This is a major frustration for robots that are more basic and require the old-fashioned magnetic taps to define no go zones.

The G30 Edge also has other features. It has an "Find My Robot" mode that blasts out loud music until it is found and a directional keypad that lets you move the robot. It also comes with an auto return function that sends it back to its charging station when the battery is depleted it is a vital safety feature.

2. Neato Botvac D-Shape

The Neato Botvac D-Shape is an extremely capable robot that comes with a number of features that are smart. It can clean bare floors with ease and climb up high-pile carpets with ease. The app has advanced features such as boundary lines, remote access to the best robot vacuum for thick carpet and pet hair as it is operating, and many other options.

This model is the most recent in a long series of robots from Neato and is distinguished by its unique "D" shape when viewed from above. The design offers a number of advantages such as better corner cleaning and a bigger dust bin than other models. The D-shape also allows the robot to get under furniture better than robots that have a circular shape.

When it is first time to begin a cleaning cycle when it is first started, the D-Shape will stop briefly to make use of spinning infrared lasers to scan and assess the space. Then it will begin to work in a grid, systematically moving from one area to the next until the entire floor is covered. This method of cleaning is more effective and thorough than the random approach employed by certain competitors.

The D-Shape's design allows it to have a large, 700ml dust bin in comparison to 400-600ml on robots of the same price. This increased capacity will help you save time and effort by making it easier to empty the bin. The D-Shape has a flat surface on the front that helps it to navigate around obstacles such as tables and chairs. In our tests, we observed that the D-Shape sat under a stool with four legs and also under an electrical cord that was not covered. However, it was able get out of the way each time.

3. Roomba i3+ EVO

The Roomba EVO i3+ is a great option for pet owners. It does well on hard floors and does a great job of clearing up debris like rice, cereal and hair of pets. It doesn't get stuck on transitions as older models. The dual multi-surface rubber brushes flex to adjust to different flooring and prevent tangling in pet hair.

The i3+ EVO's obstacle-avoiding capability isn't as robust as the other robots we evaluated, and it repeatedly ran into objects in our tests such as handbags shoes and pet toys before continuing its course. It also had trouble dealing with coarse kosher salt which it blew up and around instead of picking up.

The i3+ EVO comes with a variety of great features to make it worth the additional cost over other Roomba models, such as the ability to empty the dustbin automatically and advanced control via the app. You can plan cleaning times, set custom routines, and create zones that don't want the robot to be allowed to enter. The smart scheduling system will suggest extra cleaning during allergy seasons, and according to the routine you follow. Its navigation system is not reliable however, and it sometimes vacuums in erratic lines like diagonals or zigzags rather than parallel to walls.

4. Shark AI Self-Empty XL

This smart robot is able to trace your home's layout in detail and more accurately than you. It has dual brushes which adjust to different types of flooring and prevent getting caught in a tangle. This makes it the ideal option for homes with pets. You can control the robot via the app, or turn on it hands-free by using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. It was extremely clean and maneuvered well in a home which had a mix of carpets with low pile, bare floors and a mixture of both. The vacuum also does a decent job of removing pet hair that gets stuck to carpets however it's not equipped with the same level of power as our top choices.

However, the Roborock S4 Max is better constructed, requires less time to recharge than the Shark and comes with an array of scheduling and please click the following page automation features, including support for no-go zones. We'd still recommend the Shark when you're looking to buy something less expensive or should you prefer to use your mobile phone to monitor and control your device instead of a remote that is specifically designed for it.

5. Bissell SpinWave Wet and Dry

This robot can do mopping and vacuuming. Its two-tank system powerfully vacuums or mop with the push of one button. It effortlessly shifted between surfaces during our tests, and was able to excel at cleaning pet hair from carpets and hardwood floors. It also comes with an edge-sweeping tool to remove cat hair from baseboards and walls.

This robot is a great choice if you're looking for an affordable model that comes with extra features. It was able to maneuver around obstacles during our tests, and it can be operated via an app or by speaking. It has a huge dust bin for the collection of messes before they're filled. The only drawback is that it can take up to 166 minutes to finish its job, but that's still better than most other robots we've tested.

The most impressive feature of this robot is its front-facing camera that allows you to monitor the cleanliness of your home on an interactive map within the app. It's especially helpful when you're trying to find something specific or your children spill glitter from your Christmas decorations all over your flooring. It could save you a lot of stress by finding that lost item immediately. The fade-free lithium batteries can last up to 130 minutes on one charge.

6. Roomba 694

The Roomba 694 is an elegant robot that delivers excellent cleaning. It is extremely adept at moving itself and is able to reach under furniture without becoming stuck. It's also a good choice for carpets and rugs with low pile. It can get stuck on rug tassels, and it's difficult to maneuver small spaces, such as corners. It also has difficulty picking up pet hair from all surfaces.

Despite the limited features of the 694 however, it still performs better than most of the competition. It managed to grab a perfect score in our cereal-carpet test and completed our cat litter test with just a few scattered pieces of litter left behind. It's less effective on hardwood floors though. Its side brush is often scattered with large, clinging cereal bits instead of vacuuming them up. It also had a tough time removing table salt from a dry floor, with lots of pieces falling across the floor, and out of its reach.

It allows voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant via an external device (sold separately). It identifies your cleaning habits and provides you with a personalized schedule. Cliff Detect and a edge-sweeping tool ensure that it gets into difficult-to-reach areas, while Dirt Detect sensors alert the robot to heavily soiled spots. Its battery can last for around 60 minutes and comes with a self-emptying trash bin. The pricier iRobot J7 comes with an advanced set of features and performs better on all surfaces. It's also more durable, has a bigger dustbin, charges quicker and is able to navigate obstacles like electrical cords more efficiently.
